Chris’ note: Our tech expert at Legacy Research, Jeff Brown, is on fire. Over the past 12 months, he’s given his readers the chance to make gains of 113%… 127%… 278%… 332%… and 432%.
And this Wednesday, January 22, at 8 p.m. ET, he’ll reveal where the next wave of tech profits will come from. It’s a small group of stocks he’s discovered that he calls “timed stocks.” They often trade sideways for weeks or months. But due to a piece of government bureaucracy, these stocks have a preset “timer” that sends them soaring.
You can find out more about that here. Meantime, I’m sharing with you an insight from Jeff on a game-changing breakthrough in computing. It’s called quantum supremacy. It’s one of the most popular topics right now among your fellow Legacy readers. And as Jeff explains below… it changes everything.
For most folks, September 20, 2019, passed by like any other day.
But years from now, we’ll look back on September 20 as one of the most important dates in the history of technology.
That’s when “it” happened.
We learned we’d achieved quantum supremacy.
That’s the point at which a quantum computer can outperform the most powerful digital supercomputer on Earth.
Everything will change now.
Today, I’ll show you what to expect in the age of quantum supremacy.
I’ll also show you one sector that could accelerate dramatically in the years ahead… as a result of this quantum breakthrough.
What exactly happened on September 20, 2019?
The Financial Times leaked quantum-computing research by Google. A reporter found the research on NASA’s website. Hours later, the research was taken down and disappeared.
We don’t know who ordered the report to be pulled. But it was later made public. And Google confirmed the details.
Now, we don’t need to worry about a full explanation of what a quantum computer is. Just know that, for normal computing, each transistor has two states – 0 and 1. The manipulation of these two states is what makes computers work.
Quantum particles can be in different states, too. Except there are many states they can be in, not just two. That makes a quantum computer orders of magnitude more powerful than even the world’s most advanced digital supercomputer.
Google ran its tests on a 53-qubit quantum computer. [A qubit is the basic unit of quantum information. The more qubits, the more powerful it is.] They gave the quantum computer a task that would take the world’s most powerful supercomputer, Summit, 10,000 years to complete.
Google’s quantum computer finished this task… in three minutes and 20 seconds.
Beyond amazing. A 10,000-year task made trivial by one computer.
We’ve crossed the point of no return. The quantum age has begun. And the implications are immense…
Let’s start with the positive news.
Quantum computing is so powerful it will help us solve many problems we can’t solve today… even with our best supercomputers.
Think weather predictions, molecular analysis, genetic analysis, cosmology. Quantum computing will act like a supercharger for the artificial intelligence (AI) we need to tackle these issues.
One technology I’m particularly excited about is nuclear fusion. It’s what powers the Sun. And unlike nuclear fission, we could use nuclear fusion to produce abundant energy with no radioactive byproducts.
But there are thousands of variables we need to analyze, optimize, and control in real time to make that happen. And that’s where quantum-powered AI comes into the picture. Solving a complex challenge like this isn’t possible with current digital technology.
But quantum computing is a game-changer. A quantum computer could analyze all the variables at once in real time. It could then adjust the parameters to maintain the fusion reaction and keep the plasma – where fusion occurs – stable.
Imagine a world with abundant, cheap, clean energy from nuclear fusion. The results would be profound. And thanks to quantum-computing-powered AI, I believe we’ll see net power generation from a nuclear fusion reactor within five years.
So yes, quantum computing will benefit humanity. But there’s a dark side to this breakthrough, too.
When people refer to military-grade encryption, they’re talking about 256-bit encryption. It’s the gold standard for security and encryption. Governments, corporations, and militaries across the world use it to protect sensitive data.
But against a quantum computer, 256-bit encryption doesn’t stand a chance. I reckon Google’s 53-qubit quantum computer could crack this encryption in less than two days.
Keep in mind, this is still an early quantum computer. It’s the “training wheels” version of a real quantum computer. But in 2020, I predict we will see our first 256-qubit quantum computer.
And the moment you have 256 qubits, you can crack military-grade encryption software in milliseconds. It’s game over.
Imagine a world where governments and corporations cannot secure their sensitive data. What will happen when quantum computers can crack military-grade encryption in seconds? It will be chaos.
Now, fortunately, I don’t predict this will be a near-future event. Only a handful of players – such as Google – have access to quantum computers. So don’t expect to hear about a hack by a quantum computer in 2020.
But the cybersecurity industry is scrambling. We will soon have a massive problem on our hands. So far, we haven’t figured out how to solve it. Like I said, everything changes in the age of quantum supremacy.
And for investors, this presents an interesting opportunity…
For businesses, cybersecurity is already changing from a “nice-to-have” to a “must-have” asset. This will accelerate further now as quantum computing advances.
The cybersecurity firm that figures out how to make quantum-resistant encryption software will make an excellent investment. Keep a close eye on bleeding-edge cybersecurity companies addressing this problem.
I’m looking for one that can combat the threat to encryption from the quantum-computing revolution. Once I find it, my readers will be the first to know.
By learning about quantum computing… and what it means for the world… you’re already ahead of 99% of the population.
Just remember… we’ve reached the age of quantum supremacy. Everything changes from here.

Jeff Brown

P.S. 2020 will be such an exciting year in the world of technology. Hundreds of millions of 5G devices will be shipped. Artificial intelligence is progressing faster than many predicted. And genetic-editing technology promises to cure thousands of diseases.
There has literally never been a better time to be a tech investor.
But there is one sector of the tech market that goes overlooked. I’d say 99% of investors don’t know these stocks exist. But thanks to a mandate from a powerful government agency, these stocks have a preset “timer” attached to their share prices.
I call them “timed stocks.”
And when the timer hits zero, a stock can explode hundreds of percent in days… or even hours.
What are “timed stocks”? And how can you pinpoint them? I’ll reveal everything on January 22 at 8 p.m. ET during a special training event. Go right here to reserve your spot.
