Tom Beal: SOS… Stop Overcomplicating Success.
Have you ever made something more difficult than it needs to be?
My name’s Tom Beal, host of The Weekly Pulse, where we bring you the most cutting-edge information to help you get from where you are to where you want to be in growing and protecting your wealth.
If you answered yes to my question, you know it’s easy to overcomplicate things.
So I’ve created a system called the Success Magnet System. In five simple steps, you’ll learn how to get from where you are to where you want to be in the most quick, efficient, and effective manner. And in this particular topic… growing and protecting your wealth.
The first step is vision.
What is it that you’re looking to attain? Where are you and where are you looking to go?
That’s where the GPS on our phone kicks in. Where are you and where are you looking to go? You need to know those two destination points very clearly and precisely.
What’s your current situation, and where are you en route to? And guess what, the GPS will tell you, turn by turn, how to get there one step at a time.
That’s exactly what it takes with vision. You need to have that idea.
I saw somebody doing tricks on a bicycle back in the mid ’80s, and in my mind I said, "Man, I would love to do that, I want to do that."
Lo and behold, in a very short amount of time, following the five steps that we’re discussing here, I was able to turn that vision into a reality.
And the same thing happened when I saw a speaker named Zig Ziglar talk. He touched my heart from the stage… from the videos that I watched… and listening to his audio cassettes.
I said, “Man, wouldn’t it be amazing if I could share some information as a speaker that could really impact people as Zig has impacted my life?”
I didn’t know what that journey entailed. But I did turn that vision into a reality by following these five steps. It all begins with that vision.
The other vision was as an entrepreneur and leading back to being a sales professional. As a sales professional, I wanted to be that number one sales rep. That was my vision. I was going to be number one in the company.
I set that vision as my goal. And one step at a time, one day at time, following these five steps, was able to turn that vision into reality. I became number one in five separate sales organizations.
Then I transitioned to being an entrepreneur and said, “Wouldn’t it be great if I could be that person on the teleconference, on the live video, who through my experience could share some things to help people on that journey?”
Lo and behold, that vision became a reality as well by following these five steps. It all begins with your vision.
So get very clear on what your current situation is and what your ideal scenario is financially.
Where are you – the good, the bad, the ugly – and where are you looking to go? What’s that dream? What’s that goal?
The more that you can become concrete in that and take those steps to get there, the more that that can follow into the next steps that we’re going to talk about.
Step number two is belief. You have to believe in the multiple aspects of belief that we’ll talk about right now.
The first one is, no one else out there is any different from you. They may appear to be on a pedestal. But they still went through the same process that you did.
They went through the four things that we all go through when learning something new.
The first is unconscious incompetence. We don’t know what we don’t know.
That transitions into conscious incompetence. Now we know what we didn’t know, and we’re still fumbling around but trying to figure it out.
Then we figure it out, and we step into conscious competence. With our direct attention – and following a checklist or following a process – we’re able to take the steps, one at a time, checking those things off. But it takes our attention.
Then we transition to unconscious competence. That’s where we do it just like riding a bike, just like swimming, just like tying your shoes. It just becomes a part of who you are.
Every single one of the experts that you’re learning from went through those four stages. And they went through these five steps, whether they knew it or not.
Now that you know these, you can proactively implement them in taking you from where you are to where you want to go.
So you have to have belief in yourself that the other people aren’t on that pedestal. They’re as good as you are. They’re equal to you. They just have some more years of experience and more dedication to being the best in their field than you have at this moment.
The other aspect of belief relates to this quote: “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.”
You have to let yourself believe that it’s possible for you. When you see people attaining these ridiculous percentages of returns that our experts are bringing to you here at Legacy Research Group, you don’t need to say, “Well, that’s what these other people can do but I don’t think I can do that.”
You need to transition to, “I think I can do that. With the proper guidance, with the proper dedication, commitment, and taking the proper steps, I can attain those results.”
So belief is on numerous different levels, and the more you can get that belief solidified, the more that you can turn that vision into reality.
And that leads to step number three, which I term ‘Identify and Align’. The good news is you’re already here, which means you’re already doing this whether you know it or not.
You’ve identified who the people are that can help you get from where you are to where you want to be, and you’ve aligned yourself with them.
Why? Because you’re here watching this video. So I commend you. You’re further along the journey than you may recognize at this particular point.
The great news is, as a member of The Weekly Pulse and Legacy Inner Circle, you’re getting the guidance from the elite people who are the experts in their field.
Why? Because they’ve followed these five steps, they’ve put their dedication, their commitment, their relentless effort to become the best in the field that they’re in.
And you’re now benefiting from them and their team’s expertise.
There’s a quote that says you’re the average of the five people that you are surrounding yourself with most.
I used to not like that quote – until I started surrounding myself with those people who were my mentors who were doing great things.
In my bicycle freestyle thing there was a person who did a double back flip. Double back flip on a bike off a ramp! Like, what the heck, that’s impossible!
But it’s not – when you’re hanging around people that are pulling off double back flip results.
And that’s what you’re doing here inside Legacy Research Group. These people who are the experts you’re learning from are the double back flip type of experts. They’re producing results that most people in the investment world don’t think is even possible.
That’s because they’re following the mainstream news and you’re following the expert guidance. Our experts are doing things that most people aren’t aware are even possible for them. So you’re in the right spot. You’re doing the right things.
That leads to step number four, which is commitment to action. You have to be willing to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes.
Now, the good news is there’s no set of homework that you must do when you get into The Weekly Pulse or Legacy Inner Circle. You begin where you are.
It’s kind of like that map in your GPS. When you start from where you’re at, that doesn’t mean you have to go rewind and go back to all the years prior.
It’s like saying, “I’m starting where I am right now. I’m willing and disciplined enough to put this as a high priority. And I’m willing to take the steps necessary to get me from where I am to where I want to be.”
This is where the rubber meets the road.
A lot of people have the big visions. A lot of people believe that it’s possible for them. They may even align themselves with the right mentors, but they aren’t willing to put in the proper actions.
What are the proper actions for you? That’s up to you to discern.
But I would recommend that you ask yourself seriously, “How important is this to me?” Because what’s important to us gets done, what’s not important to us creates excuses.
You’re either getting results or you’re making excuses, and that choice is up to you.
Show me your calendar and I’ll tell you where you’ll be five years from now. So the question is, where do you have it scheduled in to study this particular stuff?
Where do you have it scheduled in throughout the week that would show that you are committed to taking the proper steps to get you from where you are to where you want to be?
Think about this. Imagine I’m driving on that map with GPS. Let’s say I’m on a journey from South Florida to Jacksonville, North Florida. The GPS is telling me to make the proper turns. I know that, turn by turn, I’ll get there.
But if I get halfway there and start to believe that I’m not going to get there, I can get anxious… “Ooh, I don’t know if this thing’s guiding me on the right path or not.”
But if I continue with it and I stick with that plan, I will arrive.
There are certain people who are definitely on the right track. But about halfway there they get too worried and concerned, and they pull back and start driving back home.
So you be that person who’s committed to taking the proper actions.
And related to that, there’s the phrase, “Improper actions always beat proper inaction.” Think about that for a second.
Improper action always beats proper inaction. That’s basically talking about perfectionism.
Recognize that not everything that you do is going to work out miraculously and wonderfully, but you’re going to learn lessons at every step.
So the key is to get into the race. The key is to get into the course and start taking the turns necessary.
And that’s different for each and every one of you watching this. But it’s up to you to discern what that is for you.
What are the experts guiding you to do, that you can then put a plan together and be committed to taking the proper actions and the improper actions? You got to play the game in order to get the results.
Then the fifth step – which I call the secret step – is to have fun.
Don’t take this so seriously. Don’t treat this like your life is on the line. As if everything that you do, or don’t do, is a life or death situation.
Take a deep breath, step back, and enjoy the journey.
Enjoy the journey of going through those four stages we talked about: unconscious incompetence… transitioning into conscious incompetence… transitioning to conscious competence… and then into unconscious competence.
Just know that the journey will unfold as it will, with you being committed to follow through with every one of these steps to become the success magnet that you’re capable of becoming.
I hope that we were able to impart this powerful insight to you today.
Just to give you a brief recap, these are the five steps…
You have to have that vision, you have to have that belief, identify and align, commitment to action, and have fun.
You do those five things in this journey to grow and protect your wealth, and you too will go through those four stages and be able to reach the goal that you set in the beginning.
And you will have enjoyed the journey the whole way, and that’s what it’s all about.
So there we have it, a quick crash course on mindset. What does it take to get you from where you are to where you want to be?
I hope this was helpful for you, and we look forward to seeing you again next week at The Weekly Pulse. Until next time, make today great.
